The Wildlife Habitat is a wildlife park of the future and world leader in mixed immersion exhibits. Located in Port Douglas, it is situated on eight acres of land that has been recreated to provide a window into our natural environment. Visitors can wander through four different and unique environments that depict over 180 species of the surrounding rainforest, wetlands, woodlands and the Savannah. Regular guided tours and daily animal presentations allow guests to see and touch animals up close. These presentations provide a learning experience about pythons, koalas and crocodiles.

Predator Plank
The new attraction allows you to test your courage as you "walk the plank" over crocodile-filled waters. Lurking below you are five Estuarine (salty) Crocodiles.

Rainforest
The Rainforest Habitat leads guests through a lush, tranquil environment where native species such as the endemic Boyd’s Forest Dragon, Eclectus Parrots and the endangered Southern Cassowary can be viewed in a natural setting. A meandering walkway allows the visitor to experience different levels of the rainforest and the varied micro-environments encapsulated within. At ground level, displays of fish and amphibians are illuminated providing a glimpse of these cryptic creatures whilst high in the canopy exquisitely coloured pigeons and parrots perch amongst the foliage and fruits.

Wetlands
In the Wetlands an array of wading birds can be viewed foraging for fish and crustaceans in the waterways. This area depicts the amazing diversity of our natural wetlands that are important fringing areas and provide a link to many ecosystems.

Woodland
The Woodland Habitat offers an opportunity to sit amongst the richly coloured birds of northern Australia’s open woodlands. Marvel at the complexity of the locally endangered and endemic finches, watch woodswallows swooping overhead and search for the smallest species that live in the undergrowth, from quail to the endangered Northern Bettong.

Savannah
The Savannah is an open-air exhibit that portrays both inland and coastal plains. Here guests are enticed to interact with and hand-feed a range of macropods from the statuesque Eastern Grey Kangaroo to the petite Parma Wallaby. Emus and Pelicans also freely range this large and open area. A feature to our Savannah Exhibit is the Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo, a rare tree-climbing kangaroo found only in the rainforests of The Wet Tropics.
